Random Vigilance Upgrades Ceased
When RTBU Delegates and HSRs unite, members win!
In a win for RTBU PN Freight Drivers, PN’s rollout of the Random Cycle Vigilance Cycle NR upgrade has been paused until the RTBU’s concerns have been addressed.
After feedback from RTBU HSRs and Delegates saying that proper and meaningful engagement had not been forthcoming, Leanne Holmes (National Organiser) and Keith McMahon (ANS – Locomotive Division) wrote to PN demanding to know why this project was continuing without due process. (See the letter at https://www.rtbu.org.au/pn_vigilance_upgrades)
On Friday the 16th of July Keith and Leanne met with PN to discuss the letter and to reinforce that the RTBU could not accept the upgrade, and that PN needed to go away and address the serious concerns put forward.
PN have agreed to cease the upgrades (and have reverted the two NR’s that had been upgraded back to the original setting).
The lesson PN have learned here, is that regardless of whether they go through the EA Consultation process or through the HSRs and SHE Committees, that RTBU Members will not accept major changes unless proper, meaningful engagement is forthcoming.
