ACTU Petition: Don’t let the Morrison Government Ruin our Retirement

Turns out it’s from The Canberra Times from 1991 – 29 years ago.

Ever since union members won employer-paid superannuation the Liberals have been out to destroy it.

Super is how working people won what the bosses had 30 years ago: a passport to a more secure, dignified retirement.

And it is essential that the superannuation guarantee rises to 12 per cent to get that.

Don’t let the Morrison Government ruin your retirement or the retirements of future generations of workers.

There is already a law, enacted by Parliament, to increase superannuation from 9.5% to 12%.

But now almost every day, Liberal MPs and employer lobby groups are out in the public using the same failed, discredited arguments they used from 1991 to try to stop workers from winning superannuation in the first place.

They want to wreck super completely and remove the legislated increase of super. And the price of them succeeding is dignity and security in retirement for you and for millions of workers in the future.

Let’s be clear: not a single worker will be better off by cutting super.
