Safety briefings get drivers back on deck quicker

In a big win for safety, Railcorp has now agreed to meet with the Loco Division on a weekly basis to review any safety incidents that have arisen during the week.  

In particular, we’ll be reviewing all incidents where drivers are removed from duty following a SPAD or other safeworking incident.

The aim of the regular reviews is to improve safety for all members, to support members and to get drivers returned to duties as soon as possible.

Since the regular meetings started taking place, for less complex cases, drivers have on average been returned to duty in two/three weeks – a significant improvement on the previous timeframes of four weeks or more.

This was a pro active move achieved by the RTBU which has been facilitated by RailCorp.
