Alert: zero tolerance on alcohol and drug tests

The RTBU is concerned that there are still some crews that are failing to pass drug and alcohol testing within the workplace.

It is important that workers are vigilant on this issue, as employers do not give second chances to anyone who fails the workplace testing. Companies take a zero tolerance approach to those who fail to pass the tests.

The Independent Transport Safety and Reliability Regulator is also pursuing a number of members who failed a breath test through the courts so the RTBU encourages members to ensure they do not take any risks when it comes to this issue.
