Quick fix for dash glare
Finally, RailCorp is taking action on a matter that’s been bugging drivers since the new OSCAR locos were delivered – dash glare.
Unfortunately the trains have been leaving the manufacturer without an adequate anti-glare coating on the dash, causing extreme discomfort to drivers.
When several meetings on the issue led nowhere, the RTBU insisted the problem be rectified or a safety ban would be applied to any new OSCAR trains with the same problem.
This action forced a successful outcome with RailCorp and the RTBU agreeing on the interim installation of a suitable dash mat with the long-term remedy, paint, being assessed and agreed for installation this year.
