Survey finds glare an issue on refurbished Explorer cabs
Members will recall that part of Sydney Trains’ Endeavour and Explorer cab refurbishment process included painting the crew cab area walls and desk areas, resulting in the Loco Division having to have the process ceased because of glare issues resulting from the newly painted surfaces.
Following this, an inspection was conducted and a survey compiled to ascertain the extent of the problem for those members actually working these sets.
The survey results found that there was a glare issue and this has been conveyed to Sydney Trains who have now agreed to use a low sheen type paint on one Explorer cab in an effort to resolve the problem. Another inspection will be conducted once this set is finished, followed by another trial if required. Members will be informed once the newly painted cab set numbers are made available.
