“Seven months of misery” when Epping to Chatswood line closes

Commuters in Sydney can look forward to “seven months of misery” next year when the Epping to Chatswood line closes, news.com.au reports. Replacement buses will double some passengers’ daily commute, they’ll add to the congestion on already congested roads, and they simply won’t have the capacity that the train services do.

This all could have been avoided if the NSW Government had designed their new rail infrastructure to accomodate regular Sydney suburban double deck trains. Instead, the Government’s short sighted planning will use single decker driverless trains on a new metro line that doesn’t integrate with the existing Sydney rail system.
