Secretary’s wrap

The recent bad weather has been devastating for many communities across NSW and it’s also been disastrous for our railways. Bob-Hayden-Divisional-Secretary

The North Coast rail line is still not operational and is not expected to be for at least another three weeks.

Unfortunately Aurizon has stood around 60 drivers down across four depots. Despite telling the Loco Division that workers would only be stood down for one week, the company has now informed members that they won’t be going back to work for three weeks.

We’re busily trying to get a straight answer from the company and will be continually working to ensure any stand-downs are minimised as much as possible.

We’re also working around the clock to ensure that all Pacific National members working in the affected areas continue to be paid.

The Loco Division has been in constant contact with PN management who in turn have been discussing alternative transport options with their customers.

We know these are difficult times for many members and their families and the Loco Division is doing everything we can to minimise the pain.

I trust you’ll enjoy this edition of Loco Express, and please stay safe during the wild weather.

Bob Hayden
Secretary, Loco Division
