Railcorp staff hit again

Feb 1, 2013News

Almost 200 Railcorp executives have been told they’ll have to reapply for their positions as part of the NSW Government’s plans to restructure the organisation.

Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian announced that 180 executives positions will be advertised externally from this weekend.

Among the positions up for grabs are the CEO roles at the two new rail operators, Sydney Trains and NSW Trains, with Chief Executive Rob Mason also told he’ll have to reapply for the CEO position of either new organisation.

The State Government has announced over 1430 job cuts in Railcorp – and move the Minister says will improve customer service.

Since the release of Ms Berjiklian’s “Fixing the Trains” policy, 750 voluntary redundancies have been announced, 230 positions were axed as part of cuts to maintenance and another 450 maintenance jobs are set to go.
