Public transport centre stage at Sydney Alliance Town Hall Assembly

Feb 18, 2014News

Public transport will take centre stage when the Sydney Alliance Assembly takes place in just over a month.

Over 2000 people are expected to attend the event, being held in the Sydney Town Hall on March 26th.

In 2011 Sydney’s civil society came together at Sydney Town Hall to launch something new. Community leaders, faith leaders, union leaders and school leaders stood together to share their vision for what we would achieve by standing together in our local communities. It was inspirational.

The RTBU had a strong presence and since then, public transport has remained front and centre as a hot issue in the Sydney Alliance for the people of Sydney.

This year we’ll be stepping up and tackling state-wide issues.

We want to all see real changes in our transport system, real job opportunities for disadvantaged communities and real action on Sydney’s housing affordability crisis.

This agenda will be launched publically at the assembly on March 26th, as more than 2000 people from across Sydney and from all walks of life will gather to launch a new movement in Sydney’s civil society.

Will you join us?

By coming to this launch you will add your voice to our demand for change.

Together we will launch the Sydney Alliance agenda for the common good with specific asks from the NSW Government on the issues of public transport, affordable housing and supported job pathways (WorkingStart!).

With a year to go before the next NSW election, do you want your politicians to hear your voice? A strong union voice?

The RTBU has 100 seats – will you join us?

When: Wednesday March 26th, 2014

Time: Doors open at 6:15pm. Will conclude at 8:30pm sharp.

Where: Sydney Town Hall, George Street, Sydney CBD.
