PN trying to keep NSW Loco in dark over VIC EA talks

Apr 1, 2016News

Pacific National R&B recently sent out a notice to indicate that it is ready to start negotiations for a new PN Vic enterprise agreement – but it seems the company is determined to keep the NSW Loco Division in the dark about it.

Despite the fact that a number of NSW members are covered by the Vic enterprise agreement, the NSW Loco Division wasn’t informed by the company about its desire to kick-start negotiations.

After the NSW Loco Division found out that the company had sent out the ‘notice of representational rights’ (which indicates the start of negotiations), the union asked when the NSW branch was going to be informed. The company’s response was that there are no employees within NSW on that enterprise agreement – a fact that is blatantly untrue, even according to the company’s own records.

A notice of dispute was then issued to PN R&B on behalf of NSW members, after an initial phone meeting to discuss the negotiations failed to include NSW members.

Since then, the Victorian Loco Division has advised the company that it will not be participating in discussions until an agreement has been reached between the NSW Loco division and the company.

At this stage the NSW Loco Division is exploring our legal options. We’ll keep members updated on the progress of this matter.
