Protected Action Update

Pacific National RTBU members who are employed in the Bulk Rail or Coal Divisions in New South Wales, and PN Victorian RTBU members, who will be covered by the proposed Pacific National Bulk Rail Enterprise Agreement 2017 are reminded that an indefinite overtime ban is effective as at 12am Saturday 14 October 2017.

Members are reminded that only RTBU members who will be covered by the proposed Pacific National Bulk Rail Enterprise Agreement 2017 may take industrial action starting at midnight tonight.

Members should know that that they are within their rights to reject any overtime that Pacific National offers or rosters them for and are strongly advised to do so. It is important to remember that RTBU members are taking protected industrial action in order to achieve a fairer agreement and to stop Pacific National from eroding the hard-fought for conditions that employees currently enjoy. Since last week’s negotiations, Pacific National has promised to respond and yet has repeatedly delayed in providing a response to the revised positions put forward by the RTBU, and are now stating that they will not be able to respond until early next week. This is why we have also just notified Pacific National that we will be stopping work for 48 hours beginning 12pm midday on Saturday the 21st of October.

Members should not forget Pacific National’s contempt for the bargaining process and their lack of respect for their employees when deciding whether or not to accept overtime.
