PN doesn’t let facts get in the way of the story

Pacific National certainly didn’t let the facts get in the way of the story when it sent a message out on Saturday morning blaming the Loco Division for the company’s decision to withdraw in-principle agreement on a new EBA.

The company stated that the RTBU had put forward changed that are “major changes which would undermine the basis of our Agreement”.

That couldn’t be further from the truth. The issue centres around clause 10 in the agreement – the Career Paths and Classification clause. You can see the back and forth about the clause here in the Newsflash, but the fact is that the RTBU actually agreed to the company’s proposal with one proviso – that the expiry date lines up with the expiry date of the other agreements, which is the 31^st March 2017.

The real question is, why did Pacific National have such an issue with the expiry dates lining up?
