Footplate: Guide to Christmas and New Year Claims

Dec 30, 2017Update

Sydney Trains’ decision to re-cast the Master Roster for a two week period over Christmas has resulted in unnecessary confusion and inconvenience at an already stressful time.

Due to this the Locomotive Division has compiled the following to assist Members with their claims for the Christmas/ New Year period.

Alterations contained within the Christmas/New Year Period Roster are claimed against the Christmas/New Year Master Roster. This roster runs from 24/12/17 to the 06/01/18. Lift Up and Lay Back claims made from the Christmas/New Year Period Roster are treated the same as any other. Claims are made in line with the Drivers Rostering and Working Arrangements, uncapped and paid at subject time.

Drivers also have the ability to claim Lift Up and Lay Back for shifts worked on December 29, 30 and 31 against the November 26 Master Roster.

We advise members to check their Christmas/New Year Period Roster working for those days against both the Christmas/New Year and the November 26 Master Rosters.
If two claims exist on these days only the greater will be paid. Members are reminded that the 4 hour cap applies only to claims on December 29, 30 and 31 against the November 26 Master Roster. All claims from the Christmas/New Year Master Roster are as per Drivers Rostering and Working Arrangements and uncapped.

The Locomotive Division has also secured the ability to claim Lift Up and Lay Back on SBY jobs contained within the Christmas/New Year Master Roster. Members are advised to claim Lift Up or Lay Back if their Master Roster SBY job has been altered in the posted Period Roster. SBY provisions for relief line Drivers remain unchanged.

Should Members have any questions about entitlements over this Christmas/New Year period please contact your local Delegate.
